Otherness Setup Shoot

We’re excited to share some snaps from our recent inventory shoot. We hauled all our best bits out into the late summer sunshine to get a long overdue content shoot to showcase our inventory. These are our setups, styled up and showing what we have to offer. We set out to demonstrate all the ways our inventory can be styled up differently. Hout Bay House

In late 2022, we got a different kind of enquiry - an invitation to do a permanent low lounge installation in a house in Hout Bay. The couple are hosts of regular workshops in their home space and wanted us to help them convert their lounge into a cushy and tactile room to host their events and circles. We took the budget and the brief, and using their base furniture as our colour palette, turned the space into an autumnal-toned gathering place with custom-made floor cushions. We sourced eclectic decor that resonated with the couple and their esoteric theme - an incredibly fun project and hopefully the first of many.

Retreat Yourself Festival Setup

It was incredible to return to Retreat Yourself Wellness Festival at one of our favourite venues in February after a two year break. As usual, it was absolutely magical and nourishing for the soul. We dressed the Soul Centre and the Talk Space with our daybed and cushions kits and created a hanging installation at the Roller Rink. It was super fun to create the boho chandeliers, which can also now be hired for events. Until we meet again in the forest.

Boho Courtyard Lounge Setup

In October we made like the Getty’s in the late 60’s and did Morocco! Well, almost. We did Tulbagh, technically. We had the best time setting up this harem lounge for a special friends 4.0 a few weeks ago. This courtyard was made for summery nights luxuriating under the stars. So much love for this adventure palace - such a special place, always a pretty pleasure.

Intimate Garden Dinner Party

A little gathering for our own Chantal’s 40th Birthday. Dinner was a delicately-spiced sensation of gourmet curry by the delightful kings of Punjabi cuisine; Curry Club, and cocktails courtesy of Tableside Drinks. It was so nice to shake the dust off some decor and let it dazzle in the winter sun for this very intimate affair.

Good things come to those who have delicious patience and a taste for fragrant flavour. Otherness x @curry_club_cpt are pairing up this winter to bring you curries and cuddles at home. Host a special night in with your closests and turn up the heat whilst keeping it cosy and safe inside, with a curated cuddle puddle and curry dinner delivery.

Oh So Pretty Boho Beach Wedding Shoot

Linda from Oh So Pretty Wedding Planning approached Otherness to use some of our inventory in a Boho Bridal Shoot on Camps Bay Beach in late February. Our very first bridal shoot, we feel so grown up. She popped in to see our goodies, we chatted a bit about her concept and what we could add to the mix by way of decor elements, colour palette and beautiful boho detail.

Beach-side New Year’s Eve Party

A beach-side bungalow on Clifton beach, that is what New Year’s Eve dreams are made of. For this one, we rolled right into the beach theme, bringing out all our navy, blues, neutrals and white’s and create a bunch of cosy nooks around the garden and along the patio overlooking the sea. It created a laid-back atmosphere for a group of close friends who were celebrating together.
